David Hopkins is an accomplished business executive, educator, and thought leader with over 20 years of experience and proven expertise in the development and application of corporate strategy, brand management, new product development and innovation, digital marketing, and operations improvement. He also has extensive experience improving organizational and operational effectiveness, and new product development and management. Possessing a broad industry background, including consumer products, retail, manufacturing, high-tech, aerospace and defense, and transportation industries, he has worked with both emerging growth companies and Fortune 500 corporations. His experience includes leadership positions in both high growth and turnaround environments. He has been very successful in providing quantifiable results in top line growth and operational effectiveness.
Prior to joining the Carlson School of Management, Hopkins was the managing director/CSO for U.S. operations at MRM Partners, a global marketing services firm. For six years, he was the practice leader of enterprise strategy for Grant Thornton LLP, where he assisted companies in achieving balance between top-line growth and competitiveness, and held several P&L and integration responsibilities. Previously, he served as the operations and marketing director for Aegis Consulting, senior consultant for Saatchi and Saatchi, and brand manager for a major consumer products company. He also has successfully co-founded several companies, including revolutionary retail healthcare concept “Minute Clinic”, and has served on the boards of commercial and non-profit entities.
